Phoenix FragBlok
FragBlok is a composite of PVB and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) with an additional anti-scratch coating on the PET, and is applied using autoclave lamination processes.
Superior weathering, scratch and chemical resistance and yet up to eight times stronger. The PET film serves as a fragmentation protection layer and keeps dangerous glass shards intact. Standard BRG, which has an unshielded layer of glass facing toward the interior of the building/armoured vehicle, cannot offer the same protection if subjected to a dedicated attack.
Glass provides the rigidity and mechanical strength while FragBlok increases impact performance both outwards and inwards. This is a very unique and cost effective solution to use in anti-intrusion, ballistic and blast resistant applications because it is substantially more competitive than a composite configuration using polycarbonate.
