Commonly referred to as a \u201cSIGU\u201d, Sealed Insulated Glass Unit\u2019s are the most effective way to reduce air-to-air thermal transfer through the glazing. <\/span><\/p>\n

When used in conjunction with low emissivity and\/or reflective glass coatings, SIGU\u2019s become an effective means by which to conserve energy and comply with energy regulations. Low-emissivity coatings have gradually become better at reducing air-to-air heat transfer, and spacer technology has become the focus of incremental thermal improvements. Our bendable spacer bar (6 to 20mm thickness) is composed of formed aluminium filled with molecular sieve to absorb any residual moisture inside the SIGU, thus reducing the potential for condensation to form. <\/span><\/p>\n

Our SIGU\u2019s comprise of a primary seal (PIB) and a secondary seal using Polyurethane or Silicone. All SIGU\u2019s are fitted with a capillary tube which allows pressure inside the unit to equalize with atmospheric pressure by allowing air to flow in and out of the unit. While the spacer bar is a structurally strong material, the aluminium to glass contact point is a very efficient thermal conductor and can increase the potential for temperature differential between the centre of glass and the edge of glass, which can lead to condensation and reduce the overall thermal insulation (U-value) of the window.
